How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

The only way to know for sure is to come in for a session. Most people have a good sense of whether I am the right professional to help them within the first two sessions. However, I have tried to provide you with information on this website so that you may get a relatively good sense of who I am and how I work. Additionally, connecting to my social media accounts and reading my posts over a short period of time will provide additional insight that may indicate that I am a good match for you.

Who do you work with?

I provide therapy for individual and couples. I do not work with children or anyone under the age of 16 years of age. I specialize in relational therapy and in uncovering our deep connection with our relational experiences. I offer support and guidance for those struggling with early loss, attachment trauma, affairs, life transitions, stress, poor self-worth/ identity, and depression.

What theoretical approach do you use?

My approach to individual work is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic therapy, ego psychology, object relations, and attachment theory. To this I like to incorporate mindfulness-based practice, a strengths-based perspective, and a good amount of creativity. For couples work, I add systemic and cognitive behavioral therapies; this allows us to understand the deeper meaning to your conflict, identify traumas and attachment wounds, and build new and mindful approaches to managing conflict, communicating effectively, building couple efficacy and, ultimately, increasing satisfaction, trust, intimacy and connection.

What can I expect from therapy?

Once you have made a decision to begin therapy, it is quite normal to feel apprehensive about the process. Remember, therapy is a shared journey; one you don't have to go at alone. And although you and I will travel together, it is ultimately your journey and you will make your own decisions. I will not tell you what to do and do not have answers to all your concerns. I do not consider myself to be the expert of you. But, you can expect that I will listen carefully and will ask questions that will spark insight for us both and allow you to begin to view your self, relationships, and life in new and different ways. I will work in dialogue with you to guide you, my equal partner in this journey, to a deeper awareness of self and experience, so that you can begin to make choices and decisions from a place of greater consciousness and insight.

How often will we meet?

It is necessary to allow time for our relationship to naturally develop so that I may begin to get a good understanding of the presenting situation and needs, as well as gain some momentum at the beginning of therapy. For this reason, it is important to meet weekly. I do not offer monthly or bi- weekly therapy as part of my practice model,

Do you offer remote or on-line therapy?

I find that therapy works best face to face, but do offer on-line therapy via a secure and confidential platform for established cases only. Typically, this is offered short term and to accommodate scheduling conflict, family needs, health issues, poor traveling conditions, etc.

What are the costs of therapy?

Therapy is an invaluable investment that impacts all other aspects of your life. The greatest gift you can give yourself, and those with whom you are closest with, is to take responsibility for your own healing. The more you heal and commit to your own development and growth, the better chance you have of breaking generational trauma, and, essentially, not passing on the same patterns of wounding to your children. The more you increase self awareness, the more capacity you have to create rich, vibrant, joyful, and authentic relationships. Yet, too often, emotional healing, and the health of relationships, is not prioritized in the same way as physical health. You may have become accustomed to reserving your financial investments for other areas of your life, overlooking this integral piece in your overall wellness and life satisfaction.

Establishing a safe and effective relationship with the right therapist can benefit you and your relationships for a lifetime.

My fee for therapy ranges from $195-260 per session depending on the service provided.

Do you accept insurance?

I accept some insurance as an in-network provider, and work with most others as an out-of-network provider. As an in network provider you are responsible only for a copay after your deductible has been met (if applicable). As an out-of-network provider, services are covered by your insurance carrier only after your deductible has been satisfied. At this point, the insurance carrier will cover a percentage of my fee (60-80%) which typically results in payment out of pocket equivalent to a standard copay. Payment for service is made in full at the time of service. If you want to submit a claim for out-of-network reimbursement, I can give you a receipt or submit a claim on your behalf to help facilitate any reimbursement you may be entitled to.

What is your cancellation policy?

I reserve each appointment hour you schedule just for you. Because of this, it is necessary to make cancellations with at least 24 hours of notice before the start of your appointment. If you do not make cancellations within the 24 hours timeframe, or miss the session without any contact (no-show), you will be responsible for the full cost of that session. Of course I understand emergencies do arise, and will make an occasional exception during those times. Consistency is important to make the progress you desire.

Our conversation is just getting started.
